Library Thoughts
Spending time in a local library.... those were words unfamiliar to me for about a decade since I graduated high school. But I thought it was the perfect time to engage in a little experiment and see how my experience studying in a public library has changed, and what little quirks I notice about it.
First, I have become aware of how library-goers feel so free to leave their belongings unattended! They left absolutely everything - including their prescription glasses (lol), their SmartPhones, bags, and even their laptops! I was astounded by this culture. I thought back to the times when I did leave my bags unattended and unfortunate events resulted. My iPhone 6 was stolen at the movie theater within a matter of seconds (I walked into the theater parking lot ready to leave before I had an inkling of something wrong occurring), and my wallet was stolen when I took a minute to use the restroom at my undergraduate university library. I sensed a culture of people who paradoxically cared for each other, but also who did not care about each other at all.
